Just a little note to announce that the first book of Dark Underbelly is now complete. Some mysteries are now solved, some are not, and there will be a second serial coming soon.

Dark Underbelly is very visual, the city floating above the clouds, the navigable ocean of air surrounding it. I spent a lot of time trying to image the structure of Sky City and environs, the vistas out the windows of those rooms and offices, and the sunsets. Know any imaginative illustrators?
The original publication of "Aphrodite's Children," a precursor to Dark Underbelly was illustrated by Kandis Elliot, who is now an biology illustrator. I've been thinking of contacting her to obtain permission to scan the illos for my online posting of the story.
I'm an atmospheric scientist, a technical writer, and a science fiction writer. I also seem to have decided that essays should be part of the mix, so here you go.
